The world we live in wants us to want to be thin. There are a whole of industries built on our insecurity. They are rubbish! We know being fat is not good for our health but we cannot believe that thin and beautiful equals happy. That industry wants us to believe that we are only worthy of love, and life, if we are beautiful. And beautiful people just are not fat...

Just in case you are following a diet right now and you are not happy, try this at home: meanwhile be fat and happy and blow people's minds! And take it easy!!

Losing weight is not a thing of a day. So, be unapologetically fat. Wear a bikini or a sexi swimming suit, and mean it. Eat pizza and ice-cream from time to time and enjoy it. Drink up your life and a bottle of wine, and make no apologies.

Lose weight little by little because it is healthy not because thin industries. Be HAPPY!

LEARNING ENGLISH BY READING BOOKS

Reading books can be a great way to pick up new vocabulary, see grammar in action and develop your understanding of English. The key to success is choosing the right book for you.

For beginner, I would recommend starting with something short and simple. Avoid the classics for now -they often use archaic (very old) English words and can involve complex themes. Roald Dahl has written many superb books and Dr. Seuss' books are guarateed to make you laugh. Starting with something like this means you are more likely to finish the book and want to read more.

For advanced learners, you can read what you want! Always remember to read something that really interests you. Look at the blurb (the short summary of the book, found on the back cover) and see if it looks like something that you would enjoy. Think about the genres that you enjoy in your own language and find an equivalent in English. This way, you are more likely to enjoy reading, rather than see it as a chore.

THE TIME CAPSULE

A new year has just begun!! So, we can get advantage of this celebration and prepare a project for our class!

Why don't we make something to remember our tradition? Let's put our hand to work!! 

This is an idea which makes a super class (why not family, too?) project about our tradition. Get the students to make a time capsule for the year ahead, and fill it, together, as the year goes on, with photos, ticket stubs, copies of certificates won, birthday cards, writing samples, and anything else with meaning to our class and lives. At the end of the class year store it away safely and open it some years later with that class to make our memories and tradition be alive. You will have a memory-filled container for the year which you  and your students will treasure in the future. And why not each year a new time capsule?

Let's start!

YOU WILL NEED:

• A used large snack tub
• Paint
• PVA (white) glue
• Decorations (sequins, ribbons, lace, etc.)
• A label to identify the time capsule.

INSTRUCTIONS: 

Rinse out your snack tub. When the tub is dry, paint it. Tip: mix a small amount of glue into the paint to help preserve it.

When paint is dry, paint the tub with a layer of PVA glue. Stick on your decorations. We used shiny numbers to add the date and sequin stars to embellish.

Now you can fill your tub with precious mementos from the first day of classes (photos, cards, wishes, etc.) and keep it adding things through out the year (tickets, certificates, etc.) before putting it away to be opened in the future.
